Pay is lousy in any retail store. I say you would be lucky if you make a little above the minimum

I worked at a Macy’s in the Jr. dept. & I started at $7.00 an hour. After a year I was bumped up to $7.10. Most of the teens were making more than that. Some were making as much as $9.00 (or so they said). When I put in my 2 weeks notice they offered to raise it to $8.50 to try to keep me. This was last year. If you accept a job there, then make sure you take note of when they calculate raises. A lady that worked in gift wrap for 4yrs had only received a whole dollar raise. That’s about $.25 a yr. Very sad. When you do know that it is time for a raise, then please don’t be afraid to ask for it. They will walk all over you!
