Its kind of diffucult to explain but i worked at nordstorm for 2 years…so here goes. Basically you either get paid commission OR hourly. The hourly is $10 an hour, but you dont want to be making hourly since selling and making commssion you can average out to about 25 dollars an hour. Youre required to see a certain amount per hour (depending on what department you are working in). With this hourly goal you will be making more commission than hourly…so for example…say in a 2 week period you sell 27,000 dollars worth of stuff, you divide that by how many hours you work and multiply it by 6.75%(thats the percentage of commsion you get in womens clothing, shoes get 11% of whatever they sell, and so on for the different departments.) Sooo selling oyu rhourly goal is going to be alot higher per hour than the basic $10 an hour. If you dont make your goal for the 2 weeks by not selling enough you make the measy 10 dollars an hr. If you miss your goal more than 2 times you get fired, so when people say ita all commision it might as well be.
