I had been having a lot of trouble with my car. I bought it brand new and had only had it for a few short months, but it had already been in the shop three times. I had just got it back from the garage, so I thought it would be fine to drive. I was on my way home from work, it was dark, and my car started spitting and sputtering. I pulled off the side of the road and turned off the engine. When I tried to start the car, it would not turn over. I had roadside assistance, but I didn’t like the thoughts of having a stranger pick me up and tow my car late at night. I called a friend for a ride. When she arrived, I knew I had to leave some sort of indication that my car was disabled. I didn’t have anything to leave behind. My friend had a skein of Lamb’s Pride yarn in her car. She liked to knit while her kids were at football practice. She said it passed the time. We cut off some strands of yarn and tied them into a bow. Then we attached the bow to the car to indicate that it had broken down. I called the dealership in the morning, and they sent a tow truck out to get the car.
