Water treatment plants have drastically reduced the risk of people in urban areas from catching waterborne diseases. However, they can only do so much. Ina many cases, the filtration and treatment performed by most water treatment plants is simply insufficient to keep water at acceptably clean levels. Most of the time, a water filter will be needed to reduce the risk of catching a water-borne disease. Make sure you install a  water filter that would match your needs, as good ones tend to be on the expensive side and you don’t want to spend money on filters that won’t actually help
