Nordstrom
sunshinegirl asked:

I am thinking about applying for a job at nordstrom. I wonder which department is the best.
I have heard that cosmetic department is not very good because a lot of women are there and a lot of gossips.

I am thinking about home and gifts section.

And can you negotiate salary during the interview? I live in OC, California.

    BP which is juniors…or hoseiry

Oh yeah..and sometimes you wont really have a choice of department..You probably won’t know what dept they’re hiring for until the interview.

Handbags or Jewelry would be a lot of fun.

You can always try to negotiate your salary, especially if they aren’t offering what you think your worth.

Good Luck, hope you get the job you want.

There’s no best department and there’s no salary unless you are a manager. It’s all commission unless you work in the stockroom. If hr decides to call you in for an interview, it’s because a position opened up in a department. It’s not your choice and the interview with the manager has already been set up. You either take it or you don’t. After you’re hired, if you sell well, you will be able to transfer to another department if space is available. Also, do some research on Nordstrom. Walk the store. A lot of the questions will depend on it. Know the culture. Know the departments. At home, for example, is not my environment, neither is BP. I prefer men’s, but for somebody else, they might like working in BP. And you can’t work cosmetics without being a certified make-up artist. Nordstrom is not macy’s.

    btw: everyone gossips!
