Nordstroms like any other major company is essential in a state or city because it pays the taxes which the state needs to fund its schools, infastructure and everything else. Like without GM detroit would not have any money at all.

Currently, Nordstrom operates 101 full-line stores, 51 Nordstrom Rack stores, two Jeffrey Boutiques, one shoe store, and two final clearance stores in 28 different states.

The corporate headquarters and the flagship store are located in Downtown Seattle, Washington.
